"The MLP was a great opportunity that served as my bridge of learning and understanding the issues and needs in our community after several years' absence. It offered me a firsthand opportunity to not only hear about the unique and dynamic work underway in San Antonio, but, more importantly, to strategically align my experience and skills in support of specific community needs - with great fun throughout the process."
Lynn Hickey - UTSA Athletic Director

What is the Masters Leadership Program
of San Antonio and Bexar County?

The primary purpose of the Masters Leadership Program is to educate, inform and expose our class members to the numerous governmental and business sectors impacting San Antonio and Bexar County. The 12 all-day sessions focus on a different aspect of the community with on-site visits, presentations, panel discussions and field trips. Sessions are planned and hosted by the MLP board of directors. When the most prominent experts in a field share their experience and views with the class members in a candid and conversational forum, the class participants views are expanded and opportunities for volunteer service surface.

Click the "Event Calendar" menu link above or the calendar link at the bottom of the "Class Schedule" to the left to access downloadable agendas from class sessions. Just navigate to previous months and select a class and view a "popup" with a link to the class agenda.

After knowing the key players in the community and the social issues that need to be addressed, the MLP class members are then given an opportunity to meet with numerous nonprofit agencies and civic organizations that can use their skills and talents as effective board members and volunteers. The Masters Leadership Program measures its success by matching a class member's desire for meaningful community service with organizations that will utilize their vast life experiences to help achieve the agencies' mission.

After graduation, class members are encouraged to join the Masters Leadership Program Alumni Association, which hosts four high quality programs on current issues impacting our community during the year and provides a way to continue class friendships.
